Educational Assistant

Educational Assistant Term Position

The SVSD invites applications for the following term positions effective immediately to June 29, 2022:  

Bowsman School 

  • 6.0 hours/day – Educational Assistant
  • 6.0 hours/day – Educational Assistant       

Special Requirements:

  • Work directly and support two students with:
  • Behaviour modification
  • Personal development
  • Speech therapy/Occupational therapy/Physiotherapy
  • Socialization and Life Skills training
  • Supervise the transporting of the student to and from school
  • Daily responsibilities will include personal care for the students (diapering, toilet training, feeding and grooming.)

This is done under the guidance and supervision of the Resource Teacher and school team.

Requirements:

  • Ability to speak English to a level that enables the candidate to communicate effectively with students.
  • An ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
  • A willingness to become part of a cooperative working team, and to respect the confidentiality that is necessary regarding student situations and school programming.
  • A Grade 12 diploma and a desire to work with children with special educational needs.
  • Promote positive social interaction.
  • Experience in working with students who require behaviour intervention plans and individual educational plans.

Preferred:

  • Relevant post-secondary training/Computer literacy
  • Willingness to be flexible regarding hours of employment, at the discretion of the principal, so as to accommodate the needs of students.
